Yoga is good for the body. It increases muscle tone, physical strength, stamina and flexibility. Yoga can help burn fat and keep your body fit.
Each class begins with centering, which involves emphasis on the breath. This allows participants to become centered and grounded for the practice.
Throughout the class a variety of asanas (postures), will be taught and practiced. Some of these postures are seated and some are standing. The standing postures help with balance, which becomes increasingly important as we get older.
Each class is ended with relaxation. This time is the most important because it leaves us feeling rejuvenated and most importanatly, present in the moment.
We need time to relax and leave everyday responsibilities behind. Yoga is a good remedy to improve your concentration and mental focus and increase your creative forces. Yoga helps you think more clearly. When your mind is fresh, life is easier.
TAI CHI

Anyone, regardless of age or physical ability, can practice tai chi. It doesn't take physical prowess. Rather, tai chi emphasizes technique over strength.
Tai chi is used to:
· Reduce stress
· Increase flexibility
· Improve muscle strength and definition
· Increase energy, stamina and agility
· Increase feelings of well-being
Like other practices that bring mind and body together, tai chi can reduce stress. During tai chi, you focus on movement and breathing. This combination creates a state of relaxation and calm. Stress, anxiety and tension should melt away as you focus on the present, and the effects may last well after you stop your tai chi session.
Tai chi may also help your overall health, although it's not a substitute for traditional medical care. Tai chi is generally safe for people of all ages and levels of fitness. Older adults may especially find tai chi appealing because the movements are low impact and put minimal stress on muscles and joints. Tai chi may also be helpful if you have arthritis or are recovering from an injury.
STRETCHING FOR PAIN RELIEF

This class is a private class, by appointment. You will complete a medical history and an individual, customized program will be put together for you.
Based on your individual needs, you will be led and assisted through a 1/2 hour private session with the instructor.

A customized stretching program will be of benefit to you if you understand exactly how your body is out of balance. You will learn which muscle groups are tight, which muscle groups are weak and how those imbalances are affecting your body.
The goal of any stretching and exercise program is to bring the body back to a balanced state.
